The Safe System lies at the heart of Jersey’s road safety strategy. It recognises a fundamental truth: people make mistakes – but those mistakes should not cost lives. Rather than relying solely on individual behaviour, the Safe System focuses on creating a transport environment that protects everyone, especially the most vulnerable, and promotes a culture of road safety awareness. Everyone has a role to play in making the road network safer, and the Safe System addresses this shared responsibility directly.
